During last century wool production was a valuable resource improved by the Portuguese dictatorial governement. By the 1950´s Portugal had the most advanced system in Europe concentrating the sheared wool in several locations to be graded and auctioned with a minimum price for producers.  Nowadays, Despite the fact that it has almost disapeared we find old ladies using the same tradition of handspun and handwoven pure and natural wool.
